Instructions & Hints
A Cryptic Crossword Puzzle is a crossword puzzle where
the clues hold answers to the puzzle itself. The solution may appear as
part of a phrase. For example: 'In Soho use this word for a
home.' The answer is 'house'. These words may also read backwards up or
down. Clue words like 'back, up, or reverse' may indicate this. Some
solutions can be assembled from abbreviations of other words. For
example: 'Initially we found a family friend when we attended a meeting
of the People for the Ethical Treatment of
Animals'. The answer would be 'pet'. Some solutions are anagrams (word
jumbles) of other words. For example: 'A sleek tartan was remade
into a noisy viper'. The answer would be 'rattlesnake'. The
numbers in the brackets indicate the number of words and the number of
letters in each word. For example (5,7) means two words, the first 5
letters long, the second 7 letters long. That's it. Give it a try.
