The
FreeCharge mobile phone charger provides emergency power to mobile
phones and enables the user to make and receive calls at any time,
even with a flat phone battery. The FreeCharge consists of a base
unit with a hand crank and its own internal battery with a standard
Nokia output cable, and several different phone specific connector
tips. The FreeCharge is charged using human energy or using the
supplied cigarette lighter charger.
The FreeCharge base output is an intelligent
Nokia protocol and is customized to other phones through the use of
interchangeable tips. These tips interface mechanically with the
specific phone or phone series, as well as adapting the electronic
protocols where required. Tips included are: Motorola V series,
Nextel, Samsung and Sony Ericsson - other tips are available by
request.
The FreeCharge also has a socket to receive DC charge from the
supplied cigarette lighter charger. This car charger has the same
mechanical and electronic platform as the FreeCharge, thus allowing
you to charge your FreeCharge or a range of phones from your
vehicle. A fully charged FreeCharge provides you with a dependable
spare battery for your phone - allowing the first full phone charge
without having to wind the FreeCharge.
When
used in "wind-up" mode, the FreeCharge is equipped with an LED
charge level indicator that illuminates when the handle is turned at
the correct speed, however the more effort the user exerts the more
energy is supplied to the mobile phone, and its performance is
increased accordingly. A talk time of between 2-3 minutes,
(depending on the mobile phone used) and several hours of standby
time is achieved per 45 seconds of winding.
The casing employs co-molding techniques to provide an inlayed
rubberized soft touch feature that enhances its usability and
ruggedness.
